WHY THIS CONFERENCE?
Since 9/11, the mute cries of those who have been rendered helpless and hopeless by political and social forces over which they have no control echo ever more loudly through our consulting rooms. This conference is dedicated to the belief that we cannot and must not turn a deaf ear to their suffering and to the idea that safe, open dialogues promote healing. Help us to bring what we have learned about empathy, trust, forgiveness, and the intergenerational effects of trauma to the struggles that abound in our world.
WHAT SHOULD YOUR PAPER BE ABOUT?
We welcome papers on the plight of those who have been politically silenced on account of race, ethnicity, class, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and political affiliation, especially papers offering new approaches to healing. Among the questions that could be addressed are the following:
** What is the role of trauma in the lives of political victims and their victimizers and how is it best understood?
** How might the artsâ--painting, sculpture, architecture, photography, film, etc.--be used to help political victims?
** How can we step outside our offices to bring our skills to the wider world?
** How can we help those who have been deprived of their voices to find opportunities for dialogue?
HOW SHOULD YOU SUBMIT YOUR PAPER?
You must submit your paper as an email attachment to: trispconference@km-direct.com.
Please be sure to include 2 Educational Objectives, a one-paragraph Abstract, and a Bio or CV as separate attachments.
PAPERS SHOULD BE ANONYMOUS, therefore all biographical and/or contact information should be deleted from the paper.
